Throughout the decades, people's knowledge has increased considerably as technology and a general knowing has come about. As said in the Bible, the first chapter of Ecclesiastes, "For in much wisdom is much grief, and increase of knowledge is increase of sorrow." If people's knowledge has increased over the decades, then certainly as more sorrowful events have happened, such as World War II, or the AIDS virus, then in increase of knowledge is definitely the increase of sorrow.

In August of 1, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Naturally, Ive heard about cancer, studied it in school, talked about it. It's a scary thing to hear people talk about, chemotherapy and radiation, losing hair and staying in bed all day long. But as long as no one I knew had cancer, I didn't let it bother me. When my grandmother was diagnosed in August, suddenly everything I had been fearing had came true; I knew of cancer, knew how much grief it caused to a person and their families, but as soon as I found out more about her situation, what was going to happen and how it would affect the future it became much more real, much more real. The more I found out, the more scared I became, proving the statement true. When I found out more, my grief and sorrow increased, because I was afraid I was going to lose her forever. This does not always apply to just diseases, however.

In any situation, not just with diseases and sicknesses, this can be proven true. Example 1 Girl likes boy. Boy doesn't like girl, but lets girl think that he likes her as to not hurt her feelings. Girl leads life living a lie, though unsatisfied because boy is not paying any attention to her. Eventually girl finds out that boy doesn't only not like her, but wants nothing to do with her. The more girl found out, the more sorrowful it became for it. Example Student has failed more than three tests in history a making period. Student does not tell his parents about his failing grades, and they go on believe that their child is doing well, though are concerned when he does not do his homework. Report cards come home; student receives an F. Parents fear he will never go to college. Parents grieve for child's stupidity. As shown, anyone can apply this truth to anything, be boy problems to grades.

To simplify the statement, the more you know, the worse you feel, no matter how bad you felt to start with. As soon as someone finds out something they do not want to hear, it immediately becomes 'bad.' As the examples show, "For in much wisdom is much grief, and increase of knowledge is increase of sorrow," can be used as a general truth to any situation.
